Accept Jesus

One Path to Salvation

There is much distraction and confusion in the world today on how to become a Christian and what it means to be one. Some have fallen into the worldly belief that all of us will spend eternity with God just by being born, being a morally good person, belief in any higher power, or regularly attending church. Some believe that they are a Christian because they grew up in a Christian home, or if they are basically a good person most of the time, they are Christians and will spend eternity with God in heaven. These are all false beliefs. Here is what the Bible says about how to become a follower of Jesus Christ, the One and only Path to spending the rest of our lives and eternity with God…

The Bible teaches us that there is only one path to salvation.

In John 14:6 Jesus says "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Our salvation is a free gift from God. We cannot do anything to earn it.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says “8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”

We have all sinned and without Christ as our Savior we will spend eternity separated from God.

Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Although the consequence of our sin is death, the good news is that Jesus, God’s only Son who came to earth and lived as a man, paid the price for our sins once and for all on the cross.

Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

No one’s sins are so big, and no one has sinned too much, that we cannot turn to God and ask Him to forgive us and save us.

Romans 10:13 tells us “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

We become Christians by acknowledging that we are sinful people and need God, believing in Jesus as the Son of God, that He died for us and rose again, and asking Him to forgive us of our sin, and to come into our lives and save us.

Romans 10:9-10 assures us of this promise, “9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

God gives us reassurance of His promise that we are saved from our sin and death, and nothing can separate us from Him!

Romans 8:1 says “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” And Romans 8:38-39, “38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Once we take these steps and truly mean them, we are a new creation in Christ Jesus! It doesn’t mean we won’t ever make mistakes again, but it does mean that we begin to live for Him because He lives within us, and we will never be the same!

2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

If you are ready to make the most important decision of your life, pray the following prayer…

“Dear God, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Thank you Father. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
